‘UNILAD’ writer ‘Emma Rosemurgey’ reported on an cheerful story emerging out of china on march 19. https://www.unilad.co.uk/health/chinese-city-plasters-hero-medics-faces-on-buildings/
Doctors and nurses battling the coronavirus in China had their faces displayed to commemorate their hard work and determination to keep this virus contained. The story received worldwide attention due it being an uplifting story about the coronavirus; a necessity in times like these.
UNILAD came up with the headline : ‘Chinese City Plasters Chinese Hero Healthcare Worker’s Faces On Buildings‘. Overall, I think it would be fair to say the headline is just adequate, not amazing not terrible just ok. The length could probably be shortened with a few words not being a necessity within the headline. It’s also a bit vague the fact they haven’t stated which Chinese city decided to plaster the doctors faces on the buildings. It is only later on in the article we discover that it was the city of ‘Fuzhou.’
The article starts off with a short video clip that shows the extent that the Chinese city went to celebrate their workers. I believe the video was a decent addition to the article as it gives the reader a clear sense of the event.
At first glance, the article seems to be at a decent standard with pictures and texts however, after a deeper look it feels as if this article was given very little attention and was just fired out as soon as possible.
Pictures take up at least 70% of the article and as much as the UNILAD were trying to convey the support for the workers; that had already been shown in the video at the beginning. The pictures were really just there to bulk up the article in my opinion.
The writer does cover the general facts about the story, where it happened ? why it happened and even gave statistics about the number of Screens that projected these images [7,621]. One thing is article really lacks is quotations; not a single quotation is evident in this article. I feel as if even a quotation from a resident from ‘Fuzhou’ or one of the doctors who had their faces projected would’ve been a nice touch to the article. Overall, the article didn’t really have a solid foundation and lacked detail .
