Sky news uploaded a video surrounding the struggles of Quaden Bayles [8]Australian. ‘Bayles’ has been suffering intense bullying at school and his mother had enough of it so decided to upload a video clearly showing Quaden struggling to deal with his emotions.

Sky news reported on the topic by uploading a 2 minute video on ‘YouTube’ accompanied with the Headline ‘ celebrities support sends bullied schoolboy to Disneyland.’ The video was uploaded on the 21st of February and has accumulated 332,000 views.

Sky News used a narrator to tell the ‘Quadens’ story, they gave relevant background information surrounding the topic, explained why the video was uploaded, and what the response has been. Sky News included snippets of ‘Quadens’ mother [Yarracka Bayles] to say her part and they also included short videos of support from the likes of Hugh Jackman. Sky also got in touch with actor Warwick Davies to reach out and offer some positive words of encouragement to ‘Quaden’ ; “be confident.”

Sky news managed to tell ‘Quadens’ story in a respectable manner that didn’t offend ‘Quaden’ or their audience, they left out certain parts of the video which contained explicit language, but incorporated enough footage to show the pain and anger that ‘Quaden’ was feeling all in a two minute video clip.

Overall, I believe the report delivered from Sky News surrounding the topic was appropriate and very considerate of Quaden but also of the issue. The video reflected on the issue at play incorporating clips of Quaden at his worst and showing the out pour of support towards the eight-year-old. The video finished on a positive note showing Quaden heading to DisneyLand and accompanying rugby teams on the field, which was a nice outcome to a dark story.
